A place where one can really enjoy the fresh mountain air and quiet charm
Kalaw is situated 70 km west of Taunggyi; the capital of Shan state and about 50 km from Pindaya caves. Kalaw sits high on the western edge of the Shan Plateau and was a popular hill station in the British times. It is still a peaceful and quiet place with an atmosphere reminiscent of colonial era.
Every room at this resort is air conditioned and is fitted with a flat-screen TV - not that you really need a TV when you can sit and gaze at the amazing landscape and watch the old train pass by with a good cup of coffee!
Some rooms feature a seating area to relax in after a busy day. You will find a kettle in the room. The rooms have a private bathroom fitted with a shower. For your comfort, you will find slippers and free toiletries.
One can hire a bike at the resort and you can enjoy various activities in the surroundings, including horse riding.
It is best to fly to Heho. There are frequent flights from Yangon and Mandalay and even from Bagan. From Heho we can arrange a car to take you the 45 minutes to Kalaw, where the lovely Kalaw Heritage Hotel is located.
Kalaw is special year round. From November to January the days are temperate and the nights are chilly. From February to May it is hot, although the nights are still cool. June to October is the wet season. There’s still sunshine, but it’s a good idea to bring an umbrella.
