Nyaung Shwe is the tourist hub for visiting Inle Lake. It consists of one main thoroughfare with numerous side streets and a few parallel roads. Inle Lake is in Shan State, the verdant eastern part of Myanmar that borders Thailand. It’s just a short flight from Yangon.
Inle Inn is one of, if not the oldest hotel in Nyaung Shwe. Even though it has gone through recent renovations, it retains its extreme charm. When Aung Sang Suu Kyi came to Inle Lake, this is where she stayed. There are 5 Deluxe rooms, 5 Superior rooms and one Deluxe family room. An outside courtyard and inside restaurant adds to the charm of the place.
It is best to fly to Heho. There are frequent flights from Yangon and Mandalay and even from Bagan. From Heho we can arrange a car to take you the 45 minutes to Nyaung Shwe.
Inle Lake is special year round. From November to January the days are temperate and the nights are chilly. From February to May it is hot, although the nights are still cool. June to October is the wet season. There’s still sunshine, but it’s a good idea to bring an umbrella.
