Hpa-an Lodge, Karen State’s first boutique property, is run by a Western couple and supports the local community by employing 60 people from nearby villages who have been trained to the highest hospitality standards.
The property includes two three-room family duplexes among its 18 wooden cottages.
The road from Yangon to Hpa-an, one of the best in Myanmar, passes by the Golden Rock and extends to Mawlamyine. Most guests will take either a private car of bus with the ride taking five to seven hours depending on the rain.
Situated in Southeast Asia, the climate of Myanmar is tropical. The three general seasons are: Hot and dry (March – May), Rainy (June – October), Cooler and drier (November – February). While Myanmar can easily be visited at any time of year, it is best to go after the rainy season from November to January when it is somewhat cooler, and not so humid.
