Developed alongside local designers Nex, Thahara has created an illustrated map that looks to show off Yangon’s alternative side, shining a light on some of the lesser known sights in Myanmar’s largest city.
While Google Maps might be quite a practical way to navigate Yangon, we couldn’t help but think it’s just not that pleasing on the eye. Our new illustrated map of Yangon has been carefully designed, capturing the look and feel of the bustling city. From our favourite local restaurants, to the top hang out spots and galleries, the map provides local tips and info about the sights that truly bring the city alive.
Our new map of Yangon makes it easy for tourists to navigate around the city, highlighting landmarks and providing the addresses of our favourite sights. We’ll show you where to get some of the best (safe) spicy food in town, what street to walk down to catch a lively fresh market in full flow and which souvenir shop to visit that you’d never have known exists.
We’ve included activities in Yangon that will appeal to everyone, whether you’re interested in watching a local puppet show or maybe you want to take part in some local martial arts training. Want to sample some of Myanmar’s famous street food? We’ve highlighted the best spots to grab a bowl of the country’s favourite breakfast, Mohingya, and one of Myanmar’s national dishes, Shan noodles.
Selecting just 23 locations was a tough task, however we feel that by limiting the number, we have made sure that each sight offers something different and is a real hidden gem that tourists will want to discover for themselves.
So where we hear you ask can you get this beautiful map? Tourists... well honestly everyone, can pick up our map of Yangon for free in locations all over Yangon.
